In a significant move aligned with his IMPACT mantra of rapid infrastructural development, manpower development, productivity, academic excellence, community engagement, and alignment with Lagos State’s THEME+ agenda, the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Professor Olumuyiwa Omotola Odusanya, led a high-level delegation to the Victoria Island residence of octogenarian philanthropist, High Chief Tunde Fanimokun on Saturday, 30th May, 2026.
The working visit, facilitated by the DSE Foundation, provided a platform for the university to formally present and defend its proposed areas of intervention. The VC emphasised how the partnership would directly enhance students’ welfare and accelerate the growth of technical education in Lagos State.

Speaking during the presentation, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the strategic importance of private sector support in addressing critical gaps in higher education infrastructure and student development.
“The proposed interventions are not merely infrastructural; they represent a commitment to creating an ecosystem where our students can thrive through hands-on learning, innovation, and industry-relevant skills,” the Vice Chancellor stated.
He further added, “This collaboration with visionary leaders like High Chief Fanimokun embodies the core of our IMPACT mantra – building sustainable partnerships that transform lives and position LASUSTECH as a leading institution in science and technology education in Nigeria.”

High Chief Tunde Fanimokun, the pioneer permanent secretary for land matters in Lagos State and a protégé of the late Lateef Kayode Jakande, expressed strong support for the university’s proposals.
“I am 100% committed to charity. The government is overstretched, and we must come to the rescue. LASUSTECH’s proposal aligns perfectly with my philanthropic focus,” Chief Fanimokun affirmed.
The philanthropist reiterated his commitment and readiness to support human capacity development at all levels, particularly in honour of icons such as Lateef Kayode Jakande, Chief Abdulwahab Iyanda Folawiyo, CON, and Oba Ìdòwú Abiọdun Oniru.

This engagement further strengthens LASUSTECH’s legacy of impactful collaboration with the DSE Foundation. It builds directly on the successful hosting of the Lateef Kayode Jakande Media Round Table by the Department of Mass Communication, LASUSTECH, in 2025. That landmark event, organized in partnership with the Foundation, celebrated media excellence and legacy while reinforcing the university’s role in preserving Nigeria’s intellectual and philanthropic heritage through knowledge-sharing platforms.
